Lincoln…Brisbane Newborn Photographer

Although we were waiting…

To meet you here on earth…

Never we imagined…

Our dreams and their worth…

You had other plans…

You couldn’t wait to arrive…

A feisty little warrior…

Born with will to thrive…

We watched you grow and flourish…

Into a big strong boy…

You’ve filled our hearts immensely…

With so much love and joy.

Today I had the most adorable little man in the studio. Many months ago I got a very excited message from a dear friend asking to gift a newborn session to friends of hers…it was her honorary grandson that was due to arrive and she was busting with that honorary Nanna pride! Now that all sounds amazing & what an enormous generous gift but not all things go to plan and when I received a frantic message saying that they would be delivering their little man long before he was due everyone was panicking. Thankfully…as you’ll see below…this story has a perfect ending and this little warrior although eager to arrive is now a big warrior and thriving! So today I met this eagerly anticipated family and it was everything I imagined and more! He was as completely adorable as his honorary Nanna had told me he was and of course his Mumma and Papa just as sweet as I knew they would be. I’ll let Mumma share their journey and I’ll add in some adorable pictures…I know there are lots of people waiting for this sneak peak. Can I just say, this gorgeous boy and all his chins smiled up a storm the whole way through!

World…Meet Lincoln…he’s new here! Newborn baby boy wrapped in blue wrap sleeping being held by father and mother in white tshirts looking down at baby

On the 9th of March at 29+4 weeks pregnant we were getting ready to enter the scariest journey we’ve ever been on and at 8.47am our little Lincoln let out his first cry. Weighing just 1064 grams Lincoln was taken to the NICU where he would spend the next 72 days growing and learning. We waited what felt like a life time(4 days) for our first cuddle, we sat together for 3 hours before we had to put him back into his isolette but those 3 hours felt like 3 minutes and I was absolutely hooked on cuddling my baby. James and I would take it in turns each day to hold Lincoln for hours and the only days Lincoln wasn’t cuddled were the days he wasn’t stable enough. Linc spent 46 days on CPAP, 10 days on high flow and 14 days on low flow before being able to breathe on his own 2 days before coming home. Bringing Linc home was such big moment for us as we were so excited to finally be taking our boy home and for him to meet the rest of his family that were dying to finally see him. Newborn baby boy sleeping in cane papasan chair with teal knit layer and knit romper on wooden floorLook at that cheeky little grin… Newborn baby boy sleeping on blue blanket with blue wrap and knit bonnetSometimes preterm bubba’s, although technically all around their due date, but actually often months old, wont go into the usual snuggly ‘newborn’ poses as easily as a freshie but Lincoln was more than happy to be wrapped up in this little womb like pose just like he would have been if he had stayed cooking until he was supposed to! Newborn baby boy wrapped in blue blanket being held by mum in white tshirt snuggled looking down at her babyCan you believe the first thing out of Mumma’s mouth was…I’m not photogenic??? I can’t imagine not having this image of me with my baby…it’s everything. Newborn baby boy wrapped in blue wrap sleeping on vintage iron bed with blue blanket and curly fur on blue flokatiEeeeeep…snug as a bug. Newborn baby boy being held by his fathers hands in a position where you can see the top of his head in black and whiteThis moment right here…I’m sure there were many times that Mumma and Papa imagined they might not be here right now.

Bec and James I am so glad that we were brought together and that today’s magic could happen…despite the journey you’ve been on over the past few months, this moment right now was totally worth it.

And Lincoln…you were definitely worth the wait.x.
