You are our tiny warrior…

Your journey has been long…

To watch you fight each day

To see you be so strong.

No matter all the challenges…

You fought with all your might…

To be with us our tiny man…

Our love for you is bright.

Sometimes you meet a family that have the hugest battle in front of them, yet no matter what, you know they will fight with everything they have and reap the rewards due to them. Just 10 months ago I met the tiniest little warrior and his mumma and papa….today that little warrior showed me that miracles do happen. I had the immense privilege of caring for gorgeous Hunter in the NICU and then today the best reward of seeing him again in the studio…my heart is completely full.

Below Hunter’s mumma talks about their journey to meet their little man and just how hard he had to fight just to be here with them today.

Luke and I met on New Years Eve 2006 and have been inseparable since. We knew it could be a tough road for us to have children as I was born with an autoimmune disease. After trying to conceive we discovered I had a Pituitary Gland Tumour which was preventing us from becoming pregnant. I started treatment for the tumour and after a couple of years we finally fell pregnant! It was the most exciting moment of our lives.

We thought everything was going well until suddenly on the 10th of September 2015 I went into labour at only 23 weeks pregnant. We raced to the mater where I was admitted and given steroids and magnesium sulphate to give our baby the best chance at life. With bulging membranes I was put on bed rest in hospital and able to hold on to our baby to 24 weeks where once again I went into labour spontaneously.

Luke and I were blessed with our beautiful baby boy Hunter 30cm long and only 686g. We fell in love with him instantly. It was a tough 16 weeks in NICU where we watched our beautiful boy fight for his life everyday overcoming multiple lung infections and collapses and viral meningitis. We felt so blessed to have such a wonderful neonatologist and nursing staff to help our baby boy fight. On New Year’s Day 2016 we finally got to bring our little miracle home. We will never forget our journey and how blessed we are to have Hunter.

It was such a joy to see you again today Hunter…I mean seriously people…this little guy was born at just 24 weeks…you would never know!

So I knew we had to capture this sweet set up! 10 month old baby boy laying in wooden trench bowl on wooden floor with rust coloured wrap wearing knitted fox bonnet and holding knitted foxAnd our final special capture is just that….Hunter brought with him today a very special bear that was given to him while he was in the NICU. The bear was from another gorgeous family who’s sweet princess who was also born at just 24 weeks and was in the same bed spot as Hunter but sadly lost her fight a few years earlier given to them in honour of her courageous fight on her birthday. I know personally just how much this bear meant to Hunter’s family during their time in the NICU at a time when things were very scary, & that it will be something that Hunter will be told all about as he grows through the years. The special connection was evident when we put them together and I must admit…my eyes may have leaked a little.

Keep fighting little man and any time you want to come for snuggles you are always welcome here.

Susan and Luke you should be so proud of your little man and just how far you have all come as a family. Thank you for choosing me to be a part of his journey.

Our lives they feel so very full..

completely blessed with joy…

Two miracles to join our hearts…

A darling girl and boy.

Siblings laying on green flokati two year old boy and baby girlWhen Jess and Grant got in touch to say that they were expecting again I may have squealed with joy! Not only because they are family of a dear friend of mine but also because I knew how hard they fought just to get gorgeous Nate…I was so excited they had the chance to add another miracle to their family. And then…sweet Evelyn arrived and everything was as perfect as it could ever be!

Below Jess shares her story of just how hard they fought to have these two gorgeous miracles in their lives.

Our journey to two beautiful children…..
We started trying in 2010, assumed it would be easy as we were in our 20’s, young and healthy. Things didn’t go to plan though and after a barrage of tests diagnosing endo and PCOS and a few rounds of clomid we decided to try IVF. We had a great result from an egg pickup with 8 great looking healthy embryos however it took 6 frozen transfers, a lot of different drugs and one early miscarriage for us to get our beautiful boy Nathaniel. We were extremely lucky to get our gorgeous girl Evelyn from one of our remaining embryos after only one transfer. Sometimes I feel like I have won the lottery having two healthy children after so much angst and heartache from our IVF journey. We are so lucky. A lot of people have a far worse and lengthy journey to undertake to realize their goal of having a family.

We just had to capture this stunning set up….Evelyn is laying on the most divine wrap that her mumma will use to carry her close to her heart with. As a fellow baby wearing mumma…these shots are always very special to me.

Mumma’s favourite colours were teals but she also loved orange’s and yellows….which considering the gloomy weather of late, made me feel all warm and sunshiney…

after all…sunshine makes everyone happy, right?

And last but by no means least….we just had to recreate the sweetest most special set up from Nate’s newborn session almost 2 years ago now with their papa’s very own dog called dusty….falling apart but held together with love…these set ups fill me heart!

And here’s Nate’s version…because I’m sure you are all busting to see it again!

Jessica and Grant you make the cutest babies ever and even though your journey has been tough you are absolutely reaping the rewards now. I am so honoured to be considered to capture memories for your family not once but twice.

There once was a boy who stole my heart…

He made me smile with joy.

I knew that I would love him…

He was my little boy.

Today we had the absolute privilege of welcoming a gorgeous family back into the studio with their second beautiful baby boy. I first photographed Archie as a newborn back in December 2014 and was completely overwhelmed with joy when his family chose me to photograph their newest edition….Benjamin.

There is seriously no greater honour than photographing a families most precious little one…but to be asked twice is just beyond all I could ever hope and dream for.

Benjamin was an absolute dream….all 9 pounds of him….squishy, snuggly and slept up a storm!

Amanda & Ken I hope you enjoy your sneak peak.x.

How special is the little dog Benjamin is snuggling above? It belonged to his mumma when she was a baby & has probably seen better days but how perfect to capture the two together!!

Now we just had to recreate this gorgeous set up from Archie’s newborn session….mumma loved it last time and I wasn’t too sure about snuggling a big 9 pound boy into the log but it worked last time and although Benjamin is a giant 4cm longer than Archie was…he still snuggled in there too!

Just for good measure…here was Archie’s log set up back in 2014!

So much love for this beautiful family and their gorgeous boys….an absolute pleasure to photograph and spend time with.

Thank you for sharing you miracle with me…twice!

Today I count my blessings

For that I feel such love

A sweet and tiny angel

Has been sent from up above

A tiny little miracle

We’ve waited for some time

To love and hold and treasure

So grateful she is mine.

LeahRheederNB3Today I had the sheer joy of photographing sweet Leah….a tiny but feisty princess who is a true miracle in every sense of the word. Her mumma and papa have waited such a long time to meet her…and of course…true to her nature of liking things her way…she arrived way before her time at just 32 weeks! In a rush to meet her family, she has come along in leaps and bounds ever since that day!

I had the privilege of photographing Leah when she was a teeny tiny peanut in the NICU and I am so excited to continue to watch her grow. She wasn’t overly excited about sleeping today but we definitely captured some special shots for her family.

Elsabe and Anton…I hope you love this little sneak peak of your gorgeous girl.

As you grow tiny girl…

I’m amazed at what I see.

No longer little baby…

There’s a girl in front of me.

Each day I know I’m lucky…

To see you learn and grow.

Mastering new challenges

Sharing what you know.

Today I had the absolutely divine Isabella back in the studio and oh em gee she was all sorts of lovely!!! We’ve been trying to schedule in Isabella’s 9 month session for a little while now and she was definitely worth the wait! I can’t believe it was 10 months ago that we shot her newborn session…it has been the hugest gift to be able to watch her grow. There is no greater privilege than to be chosen to capture special memories for a family throughout that magical first year. Comparing Isabella’s images and looking at her in different set ups that she looked so teeny tiny in not that long ago was just too sweet!

Of course we just had to recreate all of the special set ups that meant so very much to Isabella’s mumma and papa during her newborn session…..prepare for some overwhelming cuteness!!! (And there may also be the best baby rolls I’ve ever seen!!!)
