Liam….Brisbane Newborn Photographer

My child…

It is when I watch you sleep…

that I am touched most deeply…

by the miracle that you are…

perfectly quiet…

perfectly beautiful…

long before I knew you…

every fiber of your being…

was woven flawlessly together…

not even the smallest detail was left unfinished…

my dear little child…

I would be forever content…

to watch you while you sleep…

and to be touched again and again…

by the wonderful little miracle…

that you are.

I was so excited when this sweet Mumma messaged to say their little man was finally home! I first met his Mumma and Papa in the NICU many months ago now and have waited patiently for him to be big and strong enough to come to the studio. And today was that day! I’ll let his Mumma share their story and I’ll share some sweet pics along the way.

Nothing about becoming parents was easy or straight forward for us, we did 4 rounds of IVF over 3 years to conceive our little miracle man. My pregnancy was going smoothly and we thought finally the hard days were behind us! Then we found out at 26 weeks that I had severe preeclampsia and the next thing we knew we we’re delivering Liam at 27+4. It was without a doubt the most emotional and overwhelming experience but was the best decision for both of us. Liam spent a total of 87 days in the NICU and had a tumultuous journey with his lungs. Leaving him every day made our hearts ache but eventually he was strong enough for us to bring him home on his due date! For now he has oxygen support at home and he continues to grow bigger and stronger every day. Developing a little personality of his own and hitting milestones. He entered this world at a tiny 790 grams and today he is 4kg! To us he is the true definition of a miracle and his strength is inspiring. We’ve dreamt of our family for so many years and imagined a million times what our first family photos would look like and we are just so in love!

World…Meet Liam…He’s New Here.x. Now I was a bit nervous when this little guy arrived wide awake and ready to partay that we wouldn’t be able to get those adorable sleepy shots so we wrapped him up and tried to pat him and trick him into sleeping…but he kind of had other ideas lol! I’m not mad though…how adorable it this shot. Newborn baby boy sleeping on cream blanket with teal knit layer and bonnetAnd then…sleep came! Eeeeep those little rolls and tiny piggies poking out…this little guy is no where near as little as he was when he arrived earthside and is actually four months old…I am so glad we still got to capture his ‘newborn-ness’. Newborn baby boy sleeping round wooden bowl with green curly felt wearing teal knit romper and white cardigan and booties on white wooden floor with tiny beanie and booties and felt heartThis divine cardigan and booties were made especially for Liam, the teeny tiny beanie and booties used to be enormous on him back in the day, and the little white heart is a cuddle heart that Liam had in the NICU by his side always with his Mumma’s milk and smell on it to make him feel safe. I love that I can create special images like this that I hope families will treasure forever… Newborn baby boy in cane basket with blue blanket and wrap and dried flowers on wooden floorJust kickin back…could he be any more chill? Before Mumma and Papa know it these tubes will be a thing of the past but right now this is such an important part of his path so far.

Liam it has been such a privilege to watch you grow and thrive over the past four months and today is definitely a celebration of all that you have achieved. You are a miracle little man.

Emily and Jack…I am so glad we could capture this special time for your family and that you didn’t have to miss this opportunity. Thank you for sharing your darling with me.
