Hunter…Brisbane Baby Photographer

You are our tiny warrior…

Your journey has been long…

To watch you fight each day

To see you be so strong.

No matter all the challenges…

You fought with all your might…

To be with us our tiny man…

Our love for you is bright.

Sometimes you meet a family that have the hugest battle in front of them, yet no matter what, you know they will fight with everything they have and reap the rewards due to them. Just 10 months ago I met the tiniest little warrior and his mumma and papa….today that little warrior showed me that miracles do happen. I had the immense privilege of caring for gorgeous Hunter in the NICU and then today the best reward of seeing him again in the studio…my heart is completely full.

Below Hunter’s mumma talks about their journey to meet their little man and just how hard he had to fight just to be here with them today.

Luke and I met on New Years Eve 2006 and have been inseparable since. We knew it could be a tough road for us to have children as I was born with an autoimmune disease. After trying to conceive we discovered I had a Pituitary Gland Tumour which was preventing us from becoming pregnant. I started treatment for the tumour and after a couple of years we finally fell pregnant! It was the most exciting moment of our lives.

We thought everything was going well until suddenly on the 10th of September 2015 I went into labour at only 23 weeks pregnant. We raced to the mater where I was admitted and given steroids and magnesium sulphate to give our baby the best chance at life. With bulging membranes I was put on bed rest in hospital and able to hold on to our baby to 24 weeks where once again I went into labour spontaneously.

Luke and I were blessed with our beautiful baby boy Hunter 30cm long and only 686g. We fell in love with him instantly. It was a tough 16 weeks in NICU where we watched our beautiful boy fight for his life everyday overcoming multiple lung infections and collapses and viral meningitis. We felt so blessed to have such a wonderful neonatologist and nursing staff to help our baby boy fight. On New Year’s Day 2016 we finally got to bring our little miracle home. We will never forget our journey and how blessed we are to have Hunter.

It was such a joy to see you again today Hunter…I mean seriously people…this little guy was born at just 24 weeks…you would never know!

So I knew we had to capture this sweet set up! 10 month old baby boy laying in wooden trench bowl on wooden floor with rust coloured wrap wearing knitted fox bonnet and holding knitted foxAnd our final special capture is just that….Hunter brought with him today a very special bear that was given to him while he was in the NICU. The bear was from another gorgeous family who’s sweet princess who was also born at just 24 weeks and was in the same bed spot as Hunter but sadly lost her fight a few years earlier given to them in honour of her courageous fight on her birthday. I know personally just how much this bear meant to Hunter’s family during their time in the NICU at a time when things were very scary, & that it will be something that Hunter will be told all about as he grows through the years. The special connection was evident when we put them together and I must admit…my eyes may have leaked a little.

Keep fighting little man and any time you want to come for snuggles you are always welcome here.

Susan and Luke you should be so proud of your little man and just how far you have all come as a family. Thank you for choosing me to be a part of his journey.
