“It is understood that the beauty of a rainbow
does not negate the ravages of any storm…
When a rainbow appears,
it does not mean the storm never happened
or that we are not still dealing with its aftermath…
It means that something beautiful and full of light
has appeared in the midst of the darkness and clouds…
Storm clouds may still hover
but the rainbow provides a counterbalance of
colour, energy and hope.”
Today I witnessed a miracle…a true joy. I like to think that angels send their families to me for this very reason and today’s little love was no exception.
I’ll let Elianna’s mumma share their journey in her own words and I’ll sneak some beautiful pictures in there along the way.
I’m sure you will agree…sweet Elianna is such a blessing.
Elianna is an answered prayer. She is our blessing, prayed for, waited for, longed for.
Her name was specially chosen to represent her as our most treasured gift, Hebrew for “my God has answered me”.
In 2015, we fell pregnant with our first baby.
We were ecstatic and made plans for our big announcement. On New Years Eve we went for our 12 week scan to find our baby no longer had a heart beat. We were shattered. 2015 ended with a goodbye before we had a chance to meet. With that we were forced to let go of the hopes and dreams we had for a life that left only knowing love.
Unfortunately, this grief we came to know again after having to saying goodbye to our second baby in 2016 due to an ectopic pregnancy. We again said goodbye to our hopes and wishes for another baby that wasn’t ours to keep.
What we came to learn across our journey was that while the grief seemed isolating, it was a grief shared as our family and friends had also lost a grandchild, a niece/nephew, a cousin, a friend. Letting them share and grieve with us brought healing.
But what kept us going, beyond it all, was trusting in God’s plan. In each and every moment, my God has stood beside me and held my hand, whispering in my ear, “Trust me … Trust in my plan for you”
And so we waited and prayed! Elianna was gifted to us. She came into our lives at a time that God knew our family needed some Joy and a ray of sunshine following a serious cancer diagnosis for my Mum that left is uncertain if they would get to meet. Our time waiting in anticipation as she continued to grow and thrive during pregnancy was coupled with the fear of potentially another loss at any moment, even during labour these fears surfaced. But we held onto the promise in 1 Samuel 1:27 “For this child I have prayed, and the Lord has granted the desires of my heart”.
And so she is here. Safe, beautiful, perfect. She has helped patch up our hearts. We are thankful for the rainbow of hope that our God has gifted into our lives, our answered prayer, Elianna Joy.

Mumma also asked for grey to go with Elianna’s nursery of grey’s and whites…I do love a bit of grey on little girls.
All snug and sleeping with her friends…a little elephant to go with her nursery theme!
Three siblings together…linked for life.
Three generations…the most treasured gift.
A mumma, her only daughter and her granddaughter.
A moment that could potentially never happened thanks to horrid cancer.
This little love has not only healed her mumma’s broken heart but she’s given her Nanna the strength and courage to continue to fight with all she has.
Elianna….you are the most perfect gift to all that have met you.
Natasha and Duane thank you for bringing your sweet girl to me and for allowing me to capture beautiful memories of this precious time in your journey.
