Just when you think you know love….
Something little comes along to remind you just how big it really is.
You guys…I got a new niece!!! And she is all that and more. I have been absolutely busting for this little love to arrive, since long before she was even a twinkle in her mumma and papa’s eye’s. There is just something extra special about photographing one of your own and I was even special enough to be one of the first people to meet her when she arrived earthside a mere two weeks ago. Her journey to join our family hasn’t been an easy one, I’ll let her mumma share a little of their story, but considering it’s only been two weeks, sweet girl it’s like you always belonged here.
Our journey to Ayla took a little longer than than we had hoped, initially because of my irregular periods and unbalanced hormones. Then like so many couples we miscarried our first babe which was devastating but we accepted that that baby was just not meant to be ours. Then 8 months later we conceived again and although the pregnancy was a challenging time for me, we were grateful to have an incident free term with our baby growing perfectly. At 40 + 6 days we went in for an induction but after 20 hours of labour my body just didn’t want to let the baby go. She began to stress a little so the doctors decided the best option was to deliver via an emergency caesarean. I will never forget the moment they told us we had a baby girl, then when they put her on my chest we couldn’t believe how lucky we were to have a beautiful, perfect baby. The journey was completely worth it and we are blessed beyond words to have our baby Ayla.
Mumma asked for a beautiful earthy gallery filled with soft greens, browns, yellows, creams and whites, and I’m sure you’ll agree, it suited her perfectly. She was such a little doll. How adorable is this little bear Ayla’s Uncle Thomas gave her? I can imagine her snuggling up to it for many years to come. This stunning set up is definitely one of my favourites, the gorgeous earthy tones and textures worked perfectly with this sweet romper and flower crown from one of my favourite vendors, Gumnutandbloom. Everyone know’s how partial I am to yellows…how lovely is this? Such a lucky girl when one Aunty is a newborn photographer and the other Aunty is a prop vendor…this magical blanket was made especially for Ayla, a rainbow after stormy times. So these next two pics are not my usual style but when mumma asked if I could incorporate a little of them in the session I figured why not! Can you guess what mumma and papa’s hobbies are? I’ll give you a clue…can anyone say downward facing dog? And last, but by no means least, a breathtaking celebration for a true rainbow after the storm.
Ayla you are the light in everyone’s lives and I am so glad you are finally here to work your way towards healing your mumma and papa’s hearts.
Rachel and Ryan, my heart near exploded when I found out this little miracle was on her way and I am so glad she is here safe and sound. Thank you for the immense honour of capturing memories for you during this special time in your lives.
