Our story it began…
we thought our lives complete…
and then we heard your little heart…
a pitter patter beat…
Our world it changed for ever…
the moment yours began…
we couldn’t wait to meet you…
and hold you in our hands…
And now that you are earthside…
here with our family…
our little love completing us…
how happy can we be?
There is nothing more magical than your first baby…all that anticipation, excitement and hope for a new life. That little piece of your heart you never knew you were missing. It is the most wonderful, tiring, fulfilling, and special thing you can ever do. Today I had the sweetest new parents in the studio with their divine little love. We created a beautiful collection of natural earthy colours to capture special images of their gorgeous girl. This little one is also extra special as she belongs to a dear family friend…someone who has loved and cared for my boys and I like we were her own. This sweet girl is her great god-daughter and I feel so honoured to have been able to capture this special session for them all today.
World…Meet Isla.x.
Sweet and simple….what more could you want.x.
There’s is just something about a gorgeous natural neutral palette…it’s just all about the baby.
Now sweet Isla wasn’t super excited about sleeping…she loved cuddles, which doesn’t actually make for cute photo’s when it’s cuddles with me!!! She kind of had this sneaky side eye most of the session just keeping an eye on me!
I adore this set up for many reasons…you see Isla’s mumma is English and her papa is Australian…which I guess makes her the perfect mix of the two of them. But we had to do this sweet set up to celebrate her Aussie culture. She brought this divine wrap with her today and I love including special things in our sessions.
But this one is my favourite by far. The lace doily in this image belonged to her great great god-mother (I’m not sure that’s actually a title but I’m using it anyway!). The tradition and history in this image fills my heart and the hope that this image will be passed down for generations to come.
Isla’s nursery is soft neutral colours….grey, white’s and mustards…you had me at mustard!
Now this image is all kinds of special…the book actually belonged to Isla’s mumma when she was a little girl, which is special enough in its self, but Isla’s granny in the UK found the book in Dani’s stored keepsakes, had all of Isla’s english relatives and friends write messages in the book and sent it to Isla’s mumma for her baby shower gift considering they couldn’t be here to celebrate with her or to welcome Isla earthside. Now I am hoping that this image will be sent to all of those beautiful people over the oceans so that they can still be a part of Isla’s journey despite the distance.
Dani and Ben, the honour to meet you both today and share in the beautiful blessing that is your sweet Isla is more than I could ever hope and dream for. Seeing how happy you have made Glen and all the joy that you have brought to her as Ben’s god mother literally makes my heart explode. She is family which therefore makes you family too and I am so excited for you to welcome Isla earthside.
Isla…thank you for all the snuggles and for even letting me squeeze in a few photo’s in between!
